The best telephoto lens for mft

A better choice than the Leica 100-400 which I bought and returned because it wasn't that impressive for such a high price. It's a third of the price and just as good in my opinion. It doesn't have Leica's all-metal construction, but it's pretty solid. The autofocus is lightning fast and pretty sharp when your subject is pretty close.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are problems

An excellent lens for handheld shooting at long distances.

An excellent lens that is well stabilized and produces excellent handheld images. The tiger was shot through the bars so the contrast isn't the best. The giraffe stood in deep shadow; like a puma in its den. Performance was excellent in all lighting conditions. The image stabilization is the best in its class. All photos are hand held from 30 to 300 meters away! Image resolution is indicated by distinct whiskers on cougar and tiger.

Excellent lens; Sharp at 300mm wide open at f5.6; Suitable for birds

I just received this lens and have used it quite a bit with my Panasonic GX8. Wow, I'm impressed. It is excellent. I've mostly used it at the long end at 300mm and wide open at f5.6 for birds and it's nice and sharp even outside of the aperture. Birds have a lot of feather detail even at a distance. The stabilization seems to work very well. At least it's as good as my Olympus 75-300mm which I'm about to sell and I really think it could be a bit better. It's definitely nice to get an extra…

Not bad, but not good either.

This lens is designed for people on a budget. However, when using one of Panasonic's premium lenses like the 50-200 2.8-4, image quality and stabilization are greatly improved. I have 50-200 but decided to try this for more range. I really wouldn't mind if the opening was narrower. The biggest difference was in the image quality. At 100-300 there is a noticeable lack of sharpness throughout the range. As others have noted, the lack of sharpness was even more pronounced beyond 200mm. It's a good

Mandatory lens for lenses

I am using this lens on a Panasonic g85. This is definitely a good barrel to have in your kit. This will definitely add some weight to your camera. The pictures are excellent. I like that it's weatherproof. With manic focus, the focus ring is smooth. When zoomed out, it's very smooth. As for the zoom ring, they like the soft rubberized texture that offers a good grip. This is a beautiful piece of glass. Super clear and crisp images. Definitely worth it. If you think about it and are willing to…

Great lens with expected limitations

Great lens but some limitations. It's not a particularly fast lens, so unless you're in the middle of the day it can be difficult to get the shutter speed you need. Sharpness proved better than I expected, but there's a drop off as we approach 300mm. The powerful optical stabilizer combined with my G85's body-mounted image stabilizer helps overcome some of the lens' shortcomings. This won't help you if you're photographing birds or anything else that moves a lot, but it certainly compensates…

Great results at a low price

I don't think there is a better value lens for the G line cameras. The image stabilization on this lens rivals that of my Canon 100-300 and still produces very good images for video up to 300. It might not be the best in low light, but it does the job and doesn't break. Bank. The zoom is a little tight initially, but softens after use to appear smooth enough for video. The lens seems a bit heavy on the body so make sure you have a stable video tripod as the Gorilla will not be very stable for…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Sharp enough even wide open. Not as sharp as more expensive longer focal length lenses, but it doesn't have to be. Focuses very well on my Olympus and Panasonic cameras. Smooth mechanical operation and excellent image stabilization, especially with cameras that support Panasonic's Dual Image Stabilization. Weather protection closes the deal for me. So why not five stars? This is because the optics decenter a bit when zooming to 300mm, which usually results in softness on the right edge of the…

The Funniest Lens in the History of the Universe

This lens is pretty funny. I pair it with my Panasonic GM5. As with any modern camera and lens, the resulting image files are of high quality. The results depend to a large extent (imo) on the person behind the camera. This lens is good for moon photography. Also great for small animals. However, for very small birds like hummingbirds, best results are seen at 10 feet or less. Otherwise, the photo will have to be overcropped in post-processing. Please note that the hummingbird video I uploaded…
