UPDATE: This is dumb but the first string of lights we had hanging up were plugged into a regular wall outlet with the usb mated with a cellphone plug. Now that the second pair arrived I did the same thing but, unintentionally, used a different cellphone plug. They worked. After a few tests it appears that some usb-wall converters don't work, yet others do. Also, one controller can control two strings of lights at once, you might like that, you might not. I'm changing my rating from 1-start to 4-stars. I would give it 5-stars but they still don't work with every usb/wall converter.ORIGINAL: I hope they redeem themselves with the exchange, I'll update later. These arrived defective. They lit up but several of the lights on the end of the string (and a few randoms) flickered violently while most of the rest didn't. This wasn't an individual led problem as they stopped flickering when you put them on a solid setting. Because of this, we could only really keep it on one setting, despite how many modes it has. After several days of use, the lights stopped functioning entirely. The remote has zero control and the lights are only on/off with the "on" being nothing but violent flickers from several lights along the string.Don't risk buying them if you know there are better ones out there.
