We have an invisible fence where she is trained to hold back in the yard. BUT...a dog (that's why I said "stupid") will walk in front of and around every vehicle - car, UPS, FedEx, USPS - that appears in the driveway. I wanted to put up a sign at the end/beginning of the driveway that said "Slow down, dog in front of cars". So the first thing I had to do was dig a metal support for the sign into the ground. The pole should be at least 28 inches deep in the ground (just below the winter frost line). This drill bit was the perfect tool for digging/drilling a hole. That accelerated the project. Hooked up to one of my cordless drills, it cuts like butter through very dense ground that, being right off the tarmac road, is filled with small rocks and pebbles that make up the bottom of the driveway. It took me less than 5 minutes to create a hole that would have taken me 20-25 minutes using any other method. He hammered the post into the hole with a sledgehammer, straightened it, backfilled it, rammed it all down with a round metal bar and a hammer, and put up a sign. The whole project took about 15 minutes. My wife now wants to use it to plant our annuals next spring. This is ideal for drilling holes for smaller fence posts and root balls for small to medium sized plants/shrubs. I wouldn't recommend it for larger jobs like 4x4/4x6 deck racks, especially if you live in an area where the frost line is below 30 inches. You need a bigger gas drill for something like thisβ¦. Or your little ones can just use old fashioned pole excavators!
