I've reached the supported limit of 25 Wi-Fi devices connected to the Wi-Fi router provided by my local phone company. I decided to invest in my home network and get an expensive, high-end Netgear X10 Nighthawk. I expected this investment to pay off as I have many Wi-Fi devices such as multiple Alexa devices, streaming sticks, Playstation and mobile devices. This wireless router was a big disappointment. Wi-Fi drops the connection several times a day for both 2.4G and 5.0G frequencies. After scouring the internet, I found that this is a very common problem. The Netgear communities are full of users with this exact problem. Upgrading to the latest firmware, disabling QoS and disabling the 5G band had no effect. I also tried many channels. I am so disappointed that I paid a premium for such a defective product. I recommend anyone considering purchasing a Netgear router to look into Netgear Wi-Fi Turn Off and see any issues existing customers are having and then find an alternative product. I am a technical specialist and well versed in computer networks. This is the worst device I've ever bought. I hope my efforts can serve as a warning to others not to spend money on a device only to be very disappointed. UPDATE So. solve the problem. That's very sad. My wifi issues are fixed but why the heck did it take so long for netgear to fix this when netgear support tips were screaming about this issue. According to support tips, there was a timer issue that caused the WiFi to drop out every 15-20 minutes. The new firmware was released in January 2019. I stand by my decision to never buy Netgear again. Nine months to fix a major problem with their "high-end" router is unacceptable. I would strongly consider Asus as an alternative.
