The pod works exactly as described and shown in the TV commercial. But you MUST use it correctly and follow the instructions. EGG EXPLOSION If you put an egg in a regular container in the microwave, it will explode. The reason the Egg Pod works is because the eggs are encased in aluminum, which blocks microwaves. Eggs are actually steamed, not microwaved. There is a lower aluminum insert that the eggs are placed in and an upper aluminum insert that fits into the top plastic cover. YOU MUST USE BOTH SETS! If you look at any of the photos of the exploded egg, you will never see the finished product. This means that the upper insert is always missing in the pictures. Of course the egg will explode! If you use the product as directed with the top and bottom inserts in place (which are well marked), the eggs will not crack or explode. COOKING TIME The product is intended for hard-boiled eggs. Soft-boiled eggs are too soft for the shake and peel feature. 9 minutes is the average cooking time for 4 eggs in a standard microwave oven. You can adjust in 30-second increments to cook eggs just the way you like them. I have a 1100w microwave and 8 minutes is perfect for me. COOLING AND CLEANING You must chill the eggs for 2 minutes before peeling. Cold water will shrink the egg and make it easier to detach the shell. You can run cold water for 2 minutes or just add fresh water and ice cubes and then wait 2 minutes. Do not remove water/ice prior to shaking. Water is essential to the peeling process. Shake vigorously up and down 10 times. If the shell doesn't fall right away, it's because you didn't shake it hard enough. I use my Egg Pod every day and love it. It's quick and easy. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Follow the instructions and you will have the same experience.
