I bought this Makita drill because of the high torque. So I figured it would be perfect for making a hole in a tree stump. As soon as I turned it backwards to remove the drill bit, the entire chuck unscrewed from the drill bit and fell off! I had to throw the drill away and use pliers and a hammer to knock the drill out of the stump. It was easy to screw the drill chuck back onto the thread, but now I'm afraid to use this drill for anything that requires hard work backwards. This seems to be a common problem with this drill. I found another review titled "The screw breaks easily" that describes a similar problem. except that in my case the turnbuckle didn't break, the assembly came loose despite a good turnbuckle. Update - Makita warranty service fixed this very quickly when I sent the drill to the service center (great warranty service) but it happened again! Second time after barely using a new drill! This time the clamping screw is completely broken, as you can see in the photos. Update - it happened again for the third time. AVOID this flawed product design.
