I bought this for my minivan to carry luggage as it doesn't need rails. It worked great! I was able to fit a tent, canopy, 6 chairs and more freeing up all the space in the car for other things. I attached it to my minivan's sliding door frame which was quick and easy. The only issue I had was that it takes a long time to properly tighten the straps. You have to climb through the buckle and clip which improves security but is frustrating when changing load size and doing it on all 4 straps on a hot roof. However, it's worth the time and effort to make sure it doesn't fall off during your travels.
