Review on Audio-Technica AT-LPW40WN Review: Fully Manual Belt-Drive Turntable with 2 Speeds and Dynamic Anti-Skate Control by Sean Ceo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Much better than the Uturn Orbit or Fluance

I upgraded my LP60 to the LP60X but didn't like that the plastic case caused some resonance. It's my fault now. If I had normal speakers it wouldn't be a problem. But I'm using a 1968 KLH Series 5 with a 2-channel tube amp. So I get a lot of warmth and the bass is nice and full. That's why I chose this one. Out of the box, my only issue was that I couldn't get it to track on 2.0 like the recommendation says. It worked for me on 1.5. So I keep an eye on it. (Update: I received a call from an AT tech and they fixed an issue that was entirely my fault. Fantastic customer service). But otherwise the sound is full and voluminous. Good sound. He has a good preamp. Really good but I have a hum with my gold plated cables which I bought separately. Soooo I unplugged the preamp and chose a Pyle pp444 to ground it properly. It was a moment. Pyle is stirring up the field, so lesson learned. Don't buy cheap preamps. I started building the amp myself and fitted the jam nut to the chassis and boom! Turned the preamp back on and I'm back in business. Recommendation: Before buying any cables or preamps, make sure you can properly ground them. Don't waste your money as the preamp works and wins. Just make sure you have a place to ground. In my case I didn't give this player 5 stars. That looks sexy too!
