Review on Master the Art of Creating Beautiful Acrylic Landscapes with Ease: Introducing Brush with Acrylics 2! by Morgan Gilmore

Acrylic paints similar to watercolor? No thank you.

This book is not my style. The first 2/3 of the book are large pictures of his brushes and simple techniques you can use with them. I already had the brushes so I'm sure I can follow. However, all of his acrylic paintings look EXACTLY like his watercolor paintings from his other books. To make matters worse, even the METHODS are the same. Why? Because for most of his works he uses the gold leaf brush and simply paints different colors on the canvas. This way you get the look of an exploding bristle brush instead of a nice acrylic painting. You are much better off getting a book (or video) by Dorothy Dent or Jerry Yarnell unless you want to create watercolor-like work. Also, you have to buy all of his brushes, which is pretty much a must considering that's all he uses for the entire book, and it will set you back $60 or more. If you like abstract acrylic paints, you might like this one better.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
