Review on Pelican 1730 Transport Case With Foam (OD Green) by Michael Jennings

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Heavy body but otherwise perfect.

A wonderful suitcase with wheels that allow one person to move it. The case is quite heavy (see description for exact weight) and can be difficult to move up stairs or in areas where wheels cannot be used. This makes transportation a two-person job, especially when there's equipment inside weighing more than 10 or 20 pounds. It's too bulky to carry with one hand, and anyone who does risks injuring themselves. There's a reason they show forklifts moving it in commercials. I don't recommend taking this as airline luggage - consider a lighter, smaller (perhaps carry-on) model unless you're carrying bulky gear that ABSOLUTELY needs this level of protection. These items are intended for palletizing on C-130 aircraft and not for transportation to commercial airports. This piece keeps moisture in some of the harshest wet conditions in various parts of North and Central Georgia. I've never had problems with humidity when changing environment. Still, I recommend the drying kit if you're going to use it in very humid conditions, as condensation can be an issue. Personally, I had no problem storing it outdoors for long periods of time, but I did not have to open the case when the outside humidity was above 50% due to the limited time I tested over the course of a year. So in this matter I admit to others. The case is strong enough that I can stand on it without bending in the slightest. Promotional videos show a truck running over him and after dropping it, standing on it etc I can believe he can handle it. This thing will probably outlive me by several millennia. Ha ha. All in all, this is one hell of a case that's really military grade. I use it to store my most prized environmentally sensitive items and I'm seriously considering buying a few more for other valuables that I need to store long-term. With these cases, you can literally bury them in the desert and have no problem.
