My 5 year old was able to put the batteries in and use it straight away without my help, no setup required. Externally almost identical to my original, but the keys are more rigid and "clicky". However, I had to make a few small changes because my family is not good with remote controls. The top where the plastic covers the end was loose so I added a few drops of Gorilla Glue under the edge to hold it in place. Also, it didn't have anything to hold the battery cover to the bottom edge. I ended up cutting off some toothpicks, painting them the matching color and gluing them under the lid to keep it from falling off. I don't expect this remote to last long before it breaks, but it was cheap enough to see how it works.
