These cables didn't work for us. We connected it to an HP LaserJet 4050 parallel cable on one end and to a USB port on our Windows 7 tower on the other end. If the computer system is already on, it will work normally. If we turn off the system and turn it on again later, the PC won't turn on. After hours of troubleshooting, we found that removing this cable from the equation allowed our computer to turn on. We've tested and retested many times with identical results on multiple identical workstations. When trying to draw current from this wire, something must happen that makes our computer think it is drawing too much current. We tried all USB ports on the same computers with the same results. If you are trying to use an old parallel port/cable printer, you'd better install a tower parallel port card.
