The Sabrent USB 2.0 parallel printer cable worked as soon as it was connected to my Windows 10 Lenovo Legion Y540 laptop (bought in 2020) and printer. The printer is a Hewlett Packard HP 1200 Laserjet that I bought in 2003. No driver required. I highly recommend this as a USB to parallel port solution.

Pros
  • Connect the printer to the computer with no required driver.
Cons
  • Nothing

Completely satisfied. suitable for computers and accessories

Old printer, new computer - I needed a cable to connect them. It had the appropriate configurations. I was pleasantly surprised by the length as I was able to do the entire route with just two components instead of adding an extension as I feared (increasing the length and adding connections can reduce functionality). Installation was easy, truly plug and play.

Pros
  • Compatible with most printers.
Cons
  • Almost OK

Works great for computer accessories and peripherals

I have an old HP Laserjet 6L printer that works fine apart from a poorly designed page feed (only one page at a time or feeds multiple pages even after cleaning). I hooked it up to an old PC that still had a printer port. That PC is history, and the newer one doesn't have a printer port at all. The printer drivers were installed first and then connected to the printer cable via this USB to 25 pin connector and it works like a charm. The printer was first turned on and then connected to the USB…

Pros
  • Connect your printer easily, quickly and conveniently.
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

I bought this machine because the new computer didn't have a parallel port for my old laser printer. The new computer runs the latest Linux kernel (4.1.6) and is connected to the printer without any real action on my part. In fact, I'd say it was more reliable than the previous computer's old parallel port connection.

Pros
  • . Auto-negotiates hardware detection for faster printer setup.
Cons
  • Low maintainability

Bad product for our situation

These cables didn't work for us. We connected it to an HP LaserJet 4050 parallel cable on one end and to a USB port on our Windows 7 tower on the other end. If the computer system is already on, it will work normally. If we turn off the system and turn it on again later, the PC won't turn on. After hours of troubleshooting, we found that removing this cable from the equation allowed our computer to turn on. We've tested and retested many times with identical results on multiple identical…
