The numerals have been raised on the side as shown. I want them to be lifted by the handle. Easy, I was able to instantly find the mug I needed without having to pick and turn each mug to find the right size. The raised measurements on the inside of the mug are a beautiful and useful addition. The cups were lighter than I expected and the handles were so thin that they would bend if you applied a little pressure. For the price I expected higher quality
