I don't know if it was the chord itself or the RCA input on my TV, but when I used this chord with my Sony DVD player the sound worked fine but the video didn't get through. Whenever I turned it on and plugged in the component video cable, all I heard was a buzz and no video stream. Although the sound is ok. So if you want to connect an old DVD player to a newer TV with one of these AV combo sockets instead of the usual RGB cable sockets, you should be careful. On the other hand, I only spent $6.49.
