My creative tale. I purchased an Acer Aspire 5742G laptop in December of last year, and it came with the HDD. The laptop's first problems surfaced after 8 months of use, the first BSoD occurred after a month due to a progressive "crash" on the disk, and loading Windows took an additional 2 months if it did not result in a BSoD crash. Despite this, Windows did not force itself to wait for a long time. Until I repair the disk, I temporarily moved to a more dependable Linux with its JFS. My assessment is that an early failure is the bane of this approach, based on the reviews. Never anticipated this for WD drives.
