Review on Lominie F20 18W LED Aquarium Light: Adjustable 6500K Planted Tank Light with Remote Controller for Freshwater Fish Tank Refugium - Gooseneck Design by Janet Aranjo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Different sockets for the same light? Will not work with RIMMED tank without modifications (Aqueon 20L)

I ordered two of these lights and received them immediately. Unfortunately, I had one that didn't work right away. However, Revane immediately sent me a new one. When I received the second one, I quickly noticed that the base was different from both the light itself and the base that attaches to the tank. This wasn't a huge problem for me considering I work in a machine shop, but it certainly could be a problem for someone else. I'm sure if I had to have it repaired I could easily return it a second time and get another one. This is the only reason I gave this product 4 stars and not 5 stars. I say that, but another reason I'd probably give it 4 stars is that it won't fit in a rimmed tank unless you flip it upside down. Bracket back and leave that giant plastic screw they supply you with in the tank. It's just huge and that 5/16" stud will protrude at least an inch if not more from the tank. I can't imagine why they made it so long but it is what it is. Modification: You can see in my pictures the shiny countersunk screw on the side of the tank. This was my modification. I went to ACE Hardware and got a pack of 4 rubber table rails, then I drilled and countersunk a hole in the bracket on the bare side. I then installed 2 of these sliders on each bracket giving the screw a chance to push against it so I can use it for its intended purpose. The description states that this mount will work with a rimmed aquarium. Unfortunately, their idea of a rimmed aquarium and 99% of other people's idea is very different. You think of a rimless glass tank with a rimless lid on top. I only know this because the photo they send with the instructions shows it. I should have taken a picture of this before throwing take my word for it. Modify/make the base yourself or be prepared to rotate the mount 180° and leave that giant screw in your aquarium. Despite everything, I would still give the lamp 4 stars. It's not that difficult to change something. If I had to leave that big bolt in the tank I would probably downgrade it to 3 stars. Even if my OCD were worse, the fact that the base of the light source itself is different between the two would drive me insane.
