I use this to sharpen 5 of my kitchen knives and 3 of my historical swords. For knives, they work great; although it took me longer to sharpen them than I expected (bluntness 1mm). Of course it won't be as fast as advertised in 10 seconds, but I didn't expect it to last longer than 5 minutes. Since most knives have a sharp angle between 15 and 22.5 degrees, the good thing about this sharpener is that its angle is likely to be between 19 and 21 degrees. This can create a new blade shape for your knife, which can affect the aesthetics of some knives. However, for swords, they shave an incredible amount of metal, mostly around corners. I tested it on a $450 longsword, so I don't mind. It's great for what it is for; but probably not for some tools like axes and swords.
