I ordered these chains a few months ago. the ones i got back then were perfect and i love them. I realized I needed a different set to get up the driveway so I ordered the same product again. I literally went to an old order and chose the same product and bought it. They just arrived and they are not the same chains. The main difference (probably the only one) is that they do NOT have a locking connector on one side of the chain: there are only hooks on either side to hook onto the chain. I've never seen snow chains without a locking connector, but more importantly, those connectors ARE in the chain kit of the same model I bought a few months ago. Chains that don't lock up are not only useless for traction, they're also dangerous. to your brake lines. Every time these chains have come loose I've been lucky not to damage the brake lines or hoses, but I can't risk it again. Very disappointed that I did not receive the item I ordered. UPDATE: I spoke directly to the distributor (peerless) and they confirmed that the chains should be one-way lockable. They said they would send me a new set of chains. I will let you know when I receive them. UPDATE 12/18/18: Just received the replacement chains sent by the retailer. I posted a picture showing the ends that need to be pinned. They have the same problem as the ones I was hoping to replace. They don't have a locking connector for attaching chains, and the hooks at the end of the chain aren't designed to withstand heavy use. This is really pathetic, the company clearly understood what was wrong with the chains they sent, but they sent another set of chains with the exact same problem. Is quality control just not part of the business anymore? I would like to add that last time I used my original set of these chains which have locking connectors and the hook on the non-locking side is heavy duty - a cross chain (chain through the bar with V bars) separated with a Side. It didn't break, but the hooks it was attached to apparently flexed to the point where it just fell apart. I hate to say this, but I was obviously wrong in thinking that these chains are really strong.
