Perfect for dramatic color spectra

I bought this prism for my grandson's 2nd birthday because he always marvels at the rainbow that appears through the beveled glass top on our dining room sideboard when the sun is at its best. For the most dramatic spectra from this prism, I use sunlight streaming through a window and project the spectrum onto the floor or opposite wall. It works best indoors when the spectrum is projected onto a wall in the shade. Outdoors, the spectrum is dampened by bright sunlight. You must (as with all prisms) take care to aim the prism at the right angle to diffuse the colors for maximum effect. If you have the wrong orientation, you might just get a colorless reflection from the prism, or a white figure with colored bands around the edges. However, when you get the alignment right, the spectrum becomes dramatic and brilliant. My grandson is fascinated by her. Highly recommended for stimulating children's curiosity about science.
