Easily installed this filter and cleaned of contaminants per manufacturer's instructions. After filtering 4.5 gallons, I used the TDS meter that came with our "ZeroWater" filter and jug because I was curious about the filtration capabilities of this filter. Initial TDS readings were 160ppm for this filter, 175ppm for Chicago tap water (we have fairly hard water in Chicago), and "0" for water from a ZeroWater brand jug filter. Today (about 2 weeks later) the PPM of the Chicago tap water was 168ppm, the LG LT1000P replacement water filter was between 136-138 and the water from the "ZeroWater" filter jug was "0-2". I'm giving this 2 stars for ease of installation, but if you're looking for an effective filter, look elsewhere. Taste was another evaluation criterion. The taste of Chicago water is very popular. So if you're filtering almost nothing with this filter, you obviously won't change the taste of the water much, so the 5-star taste rating really goes to the City of Chicago Water Management because it keeps us Chicagoans relatively safe and great-tasting water. Seriously, 136-138ppm from a filter is not very acceptable filtration. This is only a deviation of 30ppm, meaning that little filtration is taking place.
