Review on Trend MT JIG Mortise Tenon by Jason Childs

I may have a lemon, but . . .

This is one of my worst tool purchases to date. I would advise some caution in this regard. My complaints in brief: 1. The push-in liner has some play in the groove that guides it, meaning it won't cut straight recesses. The manual says one way to fix this: loosen a few nuts and move the plate. But if the nuts are loose, the plate has no play. I drilled some large holes where the plate fits over the screws that hold it in place, repositioned the plate and basically solved the problem, although some additional adjustments are needed. I'm doing too much work to get the precision I thought I was paying for. 2. I unscrewed the lock nut for the slotted guide bush. It's on me, although I'll say it wasn't hard. I damaged the bushing when removing it. I was looking for a replacement and was able to find several replacement kits for around $60. The size of the jacks in the kit sounded like they probably contain the ones I need, but they weren't specifically sized. So my option was to buy a $60 jack kit hoping it would have what I need. Customer service. It would be nice to have a full list of replacement parts in the literature that comes with the tool. I emailed Trend Sales directly to inquire about a bushing replacement, but after waiting more than a month there was no response. So while I'm limping with this tool. If I had a few hours to do this on a weekday I'm sure I could find a solution. I'll solve it sometime. I'll post an update as things develop further.
