Review on ๐ŸŒž SUNLU 3D Printing Filament: Precision and Quality in Additive Manufacturing Supplies by Tony Wilson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to print, little stringing

Went to market to try PETG, even bought powder coated PEI film for it. Spoke to someone on the Sunlu FB group who pointed out this new "PETG". When I spoke to a Sunlu representative, he reassured me that although the label said SPLA, it WAS PETG. So I used the default "Generic PETGโ€ option in Prusa Slicer and printed some tension test patterns. Adjusted the protrusion a bit (1.8mm) and reduced it a bit, then printed Benchy to video. It turned out very nice even at a layer height of 0.2. Otherwise I printed the first layer at 230, then the rest at 235 and 90 on the build plate. No liability issues. Once cool, it popped out with a little crispy click without removing the sheet or bending it. In short, I would definitely buy this material again, especially if I want a really glossy black finish. Thing is shiny! Later this week I will do some strength testing and update this review on how durable the parts are compared to some of the Sunlu PLA I have here. Print the same piece in both, put it in my desktop vise and apply the same force to them and see them bend and break.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No machine
