Review on Gates 42095 Water Pump by Tim Morrison

This water pump is excellent. I don't see any indication that it deserves the less than glowing reviews I read before buying it, and while I understand the anger, it's misplaced. The supplied seal is very high quality. Pretty much every block I've had in the past has been a crumpled piece of cork. Even the box is of a quality I've never seen in the supply chain of auto parts retailers I've dealt with for decades. Gates is an old American company and despite the fact that this pump is FROM CHINA, its quality is superior to the original equipment. Parts for General Motors vehicles are produced all over the world. Two and a half decades ago I bought a pump somewhere in South America. Like this product It was a new piece. Somehow a new pump is more competitive than overhauling used pumps. It did not survive the car, which seemed unusual at the time as past experience led me to believe that a rebuilt water pump would normally drive most cars to their graves. ANYWAY I am very happy with this purchase. I think I got better quality than the original quality for a very cheap price, a lot for me. Oh and if this turns out to be a bad deal I'll go BACK and update this review as five star reviews really do take time.
