When I bought it I knew the green laser would be better for outdoor use but it cost $150 more. Sure, it came with a 12v lithium battery and charger, and this one comes with an adapter for dual amps, but I already had 12v batteries from my other DeWalt tools that I used for this. Some reviews say the Dual Five battery life is around 3 hours. I don't know, I only used it for about 5 minutes just to see how it worked that evening. Took me about 10 hours on the 12 volt lithium battery and it showed that half the battery was left. I was very impressed with this part. I used it for an outdoor project to level the ground for a 15' x 30' concrete slab. Outdoors in bright sunlight from 20ft the laser will be difficult to see, from 30ft if you look very closely you can see it but that is to be expected. And like I said, I knew it beforehand. For indoors, that's as good as a very bright, crisp line. It looks very nice and I liked that it flashes when not sitting upright so you don't go too far before realizing your mistake.
