I used to watch people's drone youtube videos where they used drone landing pads. I thought landing pads to be a silly and unneeded accessory, but after attempting some takeoffs and landings in rough terrain, I appreciate the need for this. Without this, even taking off on flat but sandy terrain would kick up dust into my drone.Some people use landing pads barely larger than their drone. That's fine for takeoff but can make landings a little tougher. This pad is comfortably larger than the drone, so that's not a problem.The one downside is due to its large size and sturdiness, it does weigh a bit more than what you would expect for a piece of fabric. This can be slightly problematic if you intend on hiking with your drone and landing pad.
