Review on Dometic Brisk II 13500 🏠 BTU Black Rooftop Air Conditioner (B57515.XX1J0) by Cris Walton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great air conditioning at a very reasonable price.

Dometic is the standard brand of air conditioning for RVs. I bought a 15,000 BTU unit because it was the largest I could get with just a 30 amp power supply. When the grid problems where I live are fixed and I can use my 50 amp unit in addition to my 30 amp unit again, I will get a standalone Dometic. If you are concerned about the high failure rate (30%) reported for this brand, know that Dometic has fixed this issue and the failure rate is now only 1%, which is better than most brands. 15,000 BTUs is enough to keep an RV cool and is a good choice for casual RV users. For people who live in their RVs and have 50 and 30 amp power supplies, I would recommend hooking up two AC units to the 50 amp unit yourself. If you are replacing an old appliance you will also need to buy a new control box and digital thermostat as analog appliances will not work (properly or at all) with this appliance and will cause it to hang and the thermostat to burn out which means, to turn it off you have to click on the AC switch. The device draws about 12 amps, which is almost half the power of 30 amp power supplies. We always have to turn off the air conditioner to turn on the microwave. While the device isn't exactly cheap, it costs about half that if bought from an RV dealer who will charge you $1,400 or more for the exact same device. Thank god for Revane. By purchasing this unit along with the control unit and digital thermostat I saved 2000 parts alone. It's also a damn good AC unit.
