If there is not enough space in front of the valve then this tool simply cannot be used as it requires 4 or 5 inches of clearance in front of the valve (where the pipe goes). For that I give 4 stars. Adding to this disadvantage, it pulls the nut (and therefore the compression ring) out with ease. I've replaced over a dozen valves and want to use new nuts and new copper rings. This tool makes the job so easy. I can imagine a case where this thing got stuck and the handle couldn't be turned easily, I would stop and take out the tool to avoid further damage and then cut the ring with a dremel tool, not the good one Path. removing the ring but that would be my last resort (did it a couple of times before getting this tool). To ensure that the ring can be pulled out, check that the ring has been crimped into the copper tube. If this is the case then this tool will most likely get stuck as it will compress the old ring even tighter. UPDATE: I bought another one for a friend who sees me using it. He loves to.
