I bought both the scraper and the spoon. I liked the spoon better. A scraper is much stiffer than a spoon and has thicker edges. The problem with the scraper is that it's too soft to mash tomatoes or ground beef in a pan, but too hard to scrape through a bowl. I use these spatulas a lot to get the last bit of sauce out of pots and pans and the scraper is so hard you have to press the surface very hard and even then it doesn't pick it all up. The spoon is ideal for this. It is so soft that it can be scraped through a pot. And since it's also a spoon, you can scrape anything off the walls and then pick it up. However, a scraper is great for kneading dough for bread. Because it's very chewy, you can put a lot more effort into adding ingredients and scraping bits of dough off the sides of the bowl.
