Review on 🐠 Garmin 010-01550-00 Striker 4 GPS Fishfinder: Chirp Transducer and 3.5" Display by Paul Lee

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good tackle, excellent quality, depth, temperature, trolling speed, fish drops and fish arches. Bullseye

First sonar so I'm not Bill Dance. No comparison with other models. I installed it on my trolling motor. instead of drilling it into the hull of my boat. Much lighter, works well. Knowing the depth is very useful not only for fishing but also for navigating. I only use it at revs just above idle. It turns off when you try to drive fast. Displays "fish arches" and bait drops, not to mention the shape and contour of the bottom. I can see the screen well in bright sunlight wearing sunglasses. I don't know why some people say the screen isn't bright enough. I run it on a deep cycle battery, which I also use for trolling. Worked all day with the trolling motor running on battery power. It also shows the output voltage of the battery, which is very useful. The only downside is the battery connector - a very fragile thin wire. I literally crimped them in alligator clips for trolling motors and then glued them really good. You'll have to come up with something to hold the wires securely in place. but everything else is great. Instructions are easy to follow. However, they are not enough when it comes to connecting to the mains. Just think of red plus, black minus. Everything is ready. Still learning the features but there is GPS, speed, water temp. everything is really helpful. Can keep my trolling boat stable at 2km/h. Great little tackle, very satisfied, affordable and works well for my small fishing tackle. Will be updated if it stops working. If there are no updates, assume it's still working fine! I have a feeling it will hold up well.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Useless features
