WiFi alerts on your phone when water is detected

Grohe 22601LN0 Sense Smart Water Sensor This water sensor runs on 3 AA batteries (included). The lid is bolted on and has a rubber grommet around the seal, so I'm guessing it floats when the water level rises. Place it on a flat, non-conductive surface (such as a concrete floor in a basement). Like any other water/leak sensor, it will beep when water is detected. An added bonus for this device is that you can download an iOS app from the App Store and connect to a Wi-Fi network, allowing it to alert your phone and/or email you when it detects water . The app was easy to install. Then you need to create an account (probably because it stores 3 months of data). Then, as soon as you insert batteries, the device itself creates a WiFi SSID that you can connect to to set it up and then connect to your own WiFi network. You can also set it up to notify you of low/high humidity or temperature. Low/high warning thresholds are configurable. The app also shows a chart of temperature and humidity for the last week/month/3 months. I use this device to monitor the drain in my basement which has a slight incline. When the sump pump stops working, water begins to rise around the sewer and accumulate in the basement. I love that this unit alerts my phone when a leak is detected because even when I'm home if I'm on the second floor I don't hear the water/leak detector on the other side of the house in the basement .
