Review on πŸ”Œ J-Tech Digital 1080p@60Hz Wireless HDMI Extender Adapter Dongle - Up to 100' Range with IR Support [JTECH-WDEX-30M] by Troy Gerhardt

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I wish I had bought this a long time ago!

I had a 25ft HDMI cable between the projector and an audio/video system consisting of a DVR, Blu-ray DVD player and Apple TV. Over time I noticed random noise creeping into deep blacks in the projected image and finally a few weeks ago the cable completely failed. Running a new HDMI cable through the existing ceiling and past the screen to the existing junction box was a nightmare I didn't want to go through. This device saved the day - very easy to install and excellent picture with no glitches. However, there is a caveat for those using HDMI switches. It does not work for some sources when connected via an HDMI switch. Interestingly, my Verizon set-top box didn't show a picture through the switch to the HDMI emitter, while the other two devices did. I don't really care, since it's trivial to use an HDMI adapter and just manually switch cables when needed (in my case, this is rarely done). If you're looking for a fully automatic interface with source switching, this isn't the option for you. On the other hand, if you can swap the original cables manually, this device saves you an enormous amount of effort when changing cables in the finished design. To install.

Pros
  • βœ” DIRECTLY FROM REMOTE LOCATIONS: Connect the transmitter to an HDMI camera and the receiver to an HDMI monitor, power the transmitter from any nearby USB port, such as filming on set
Cons
  • Very expensive

Cut out frequently. The path was not obstructed and distance was not very far (maybe 10-15ft).
