Review on Philips 272E1CA Frameless Adaptive Sync Replacement Monitor: ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Full HD, Tilt Adjustment, Built-In Speakers, Curved LED Display by Rene Bowman

Respectable. Color problems, flicker.

It's a good size, although actually too big for my desk (it's on top of me). I am disappointed with the color accuracy. I've spent hours calibrating the color and matching it to the Macbook I'm showing content from in my dual monitor situation with the colors always off. I also don't think it takes 4 hours to try to get the same colors. It's not that the colors are far off, but I extend my desktop and it duplicates the desktop wallpaper and the colors are just different. It doesn't look terrible, but they don't match. I understand that a Macbook is better than such a standalone monitor, but it's still disappointing. After about 9 months of use, it started to flicker while only changing its base color temperature within a few minutes. It's akin to watching night shift on a phone (and no, it's not night shift on my Macbook), but the overall color temperature is more yellow and less blue for a few minutes, then randomly flickers back. It's visually annoying but doesn't bother me since I only do emails and other boring work stuff. If I played games I'd be angry, but I'm just a spreadsheet jockey so it's not that bad. the flickering persists or increases, or the color differences are starting to bother me too much.

Pros
  • Its slim profile saves valuable desk space.
