Review on Sashiko Needles Straight Thin Size Sewing by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 3 out of 5

ALMOST PERFECT

Bought these needles for quilting with large stitches. They worked great - it was easy to thread both 12 watt yarn and size 8 pearl cotton. Did not bend with the firmware. Went through the shifts with no problems. Then something bad happened. The needle broke off in the eye. Thought it might be a bad batch. I took a needle from the second pack - I sewed it for several hours and the eye broke again. Luckily I was able to find these tiny bits so they wouldn't dig into the ceiling and wait for disaster. I stopped using them and started using a size 5 Clover needle, which I also bought from Revain. The eye is smaller but appears more powerful. Getting 12 watts through the eyelet is no problem with a wire needle threader. It's almost the same length. I do not recommend these Sashiko needles for sewing projects where a broken eye would render them useless by infiltrating the project. Think of a baby blanket. If they weren't so prone to breaking at the eye, the needle would be excellent. Now they are considered expensive sewing pins.

Pros
  • Specially designed sashiko needles based on the voice of active sashiko artists.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
