Review on BeaverCraft Carving Whittling Roughing Beginners by Kim Sanchez

Great knife but don't buy with leather sheath

I bought two BeaverCraft Sloyd knives and they are very good; However, the second knife I bought with the leather sheath arrived with noticeable rust on the blade. Due to residual moisture in the leather and because the knife was sheathed and wrapped tightly in plastic, it was quite rusty. Perhaps it would have been ok if the knife blade had been packaged separately and not sheathed (the first knife I bought without a sheath was ok) but wrapping both together to prevent residual moisture in the skin from drying out , led to their rust. I'm not sure how long it was held together, but it probably shouldn't have been long, since the blade is made of carbon steel. Because of this, I don't plan on using this particular shell. So I would recommend buying a blade without a leather sheath.

Pros
  • Woodwork
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
