First of all there is no instructions in the kit, I watch a few videos on YouTube and choose the best way to make a new scoby. I brought a little over 3 liters to a boil, then turned off the heat and made 6 tea bags in about 7 minutes, the usual time is 5 minutes, the longer the more bitter and added 6 ounces of sugar. I then waited about 4 hours for the tea to cool to room temperature before pouring the tea and staples into a gallon jar 4 hours after I already had tiny bubbles around the top of the tea. I did this 3 days after receiving my kit and it was still working.
