The 25 watt bulb that came with my salt lamp lasted about a year. (This is how my lamp worked for a year at Christmas). When I wanted to replace a light bulb, I followed the light bulb's exact specifications for wattage and bulb size/type to ensure there would be no fire hazard. This bulb worked for maybe a week then I realized it was off. Strange. When I opened it up I found that the bulb inside had completely turned a dark metallic silver black and that my lamp base was no longer working. That's why I'm suspicious of products from China. I have to assume that this lamp drew more current than advertised (cheap third world product with no reliable quality control) and shorted out my lamp. Thank God there was no fire! When I took out the bulb, the socket smelled like electric fire. CREEPY!
