Review on 🎧 Sena SRL 2 Bluetooth Motorcycle Communication System - Compatible with Shoei GT-Air 2 Helmet by Jared Tovar

Medium sound, not modular, difficult to operate with gloves

I bought this kit and used about 10,000 miles on my daily commute and some trips. It fits the amazing SHOEI GT Air 2 helmet. Installing the kit was relatively easy, but that's when the first disappointments began: - Build quality: the cables are very thin and fragile (compared to other kits I've used). Almost immediately, the black insulation peeled from one of the wires next to the plastic clip, exposing the wire. I'm afraid that sooner or later I'll accidentally break it when I remove the inside of the helmet. A broken cable isn't a problem, it's easy to fix, but you have to sacrifice a small plastic clip that melts with the cable. And here's another downside: - Non-modularity. If a part is broken (cable, speaker), you simply cannot replace it. For example, I would like to be able to do this to replace the speakers with better ones because: - The sound quality is poor. Seriously, cheap Chinese kits worked a lot better. It's fine for communication, but when you want to listen to something other than your mate, it's a bit of a drag. Constant background noise, no bass. It's hard to believe this is a $300 device! - The voice control is cool, but it requires some work: even if it only recognizes a few words, it still has trouble understanding the simple "music" command. It also sometimes turns on when we're talking to a friend - very annoying. Better integration with Google is highly desirable. Difficult to work with gloves. While the center button is easy to find, +/- is too close, and I even have trouble toggling the dial on/off (while holding the center and "+" buttons). The Huge PRO fits the helmet very well - that's one of the only reasons I'll stick with this set despite all the issues above. It's just beautiful, cool and aesthetic :) In general, it's a shame that SENA released something like this. The idea is great, but it needs a lot of fine-tuning. Or in other words - it will be acceptable at $100, not $300.
