Review on ๐Ÿชต RIKON 4-In-1 Woodturning Tool Set by Kevin Jacobson

Excellent value for full size carbide tools

I've been looking at carbide tools for a while, expecting to switch from a mini lathe to a medium sized machine and for larger projects. I couldn't understand why a full size midi or carbide tool would cost $120 or $130 each when a replacement cutter is $15. A wooden handle and a short square bar cost no more than $100. I bought a Rikon midi lathe on sale at WoodCraft and even with the Rikon sale this set was still $100 off at Revain. I believe in supporting your local retailer, but I also don't take advantage of your neighbors. This tool set was amazing, the fit and finish of the tool to the handle is spot on, seems totally secure and easy to put together. Big. The knives are strong I went too far behind the back of the bowl and caught the edge of the knife in the chuck. Assuming the worst, no damage. I have ordered and am now awaiting the extra pen weight and some acrylic negative angle cutters. If you're thinking of carbide at all, this was the way to go, at least for me. Quality tools at a great price. There is no problem with blade alignment as long as they are properly tightened. To update. After using the handles and little bowls a lot and buying more cutters I still like them. BUT land shaft and let go. Collette became a problem. The set screw on the shaft must be tightened or the shaft will not seat. Sometimes you can't remove the shaft without completely disassembling it. I have cleaned them several times, they collect a lot of dirt in the seat. I think they need to improve the connection points for real use. 1 star reduced.

Cons
