I also love everything but velcro but I decided to keep the sandals because they really look like my dream sandals (design, comfort, functionality ). As many have pointed out, the straps were too short, causing my ankles to feel uncomfortable, like suffocation (not that my ankles need to breathe!). I think if the straps were elastic it would make a huge difference, but it doesn't. I was going to remove the ties entirely, but instead I came up with: use small hair ties. I took the entire strap out of the loop, threaded the hair tie through the strap loop, and threaded the strap through the hair tie loop. Please see picture. I would have preferred the color to match my sandals but I only have black on hand. At least the black still matches the black rubber outsole. But now I'm very happy with the sandals and so glad I didn't undo the straps before I came up with another, simpler idea. I also like that I can still keep the beautiful look of the strap even though it doesn't really serve any function other than aesthetics. Hope this can be helpful for some of you!
