my son is usually 7 and they are usually roomy and still too short. I have 8slim with me and they fit perfectly around the waist and there is room to grow with an elasticated waist even if the adjustable buckles are already loose. They're an inch or two longer than we expected and hemmed, but it was better than the floods. However, his shoes don't drag and don't look too frayed that they don't even need to be hemmed and he has room to grow. Very satisfied. Haven't washed it yet but the quality looks solid and well made.
