This item is made of aluminum and is very well made. I think it's the best of its kind. This is for new cans that have a "self-sealing" design. Do not use on old "self-punching" cans. The new "self-closing" jars have a valve opening at the top of the jar. Make sure you get the "gold" color, its 1/2-16 point. There is another "white" color that is 7/16 that is incorrect. After all, you used to be able to put a dispensing valve on a glass without gloves. Now you need to put on your gloves (and goggles) before you begin. The reason for this is that the valve on the bottle works in such a way that when you start screwing the dispenser on it starts to leak. This is not a flaw in the dispenser, but part of the design of the new cans. In the past, the dispenser was screwed on and then the can "pierced" so that there were no leaks when the dispenser was screwed onto the can.
