Review on WiFi-IR Universal Smart Home Automation Hub - Control Air Conditioner, TV, Fan, STB | Compatible with Alexa, Google Home | IR Blaster Controller by Dennis Black

Works as expected, good for electrics

I had a different "version" of this type of WiFi IR controller before and it's pretty much the same. The application used to control and add devices is acceptable and allows you to try the different possible remote controls for this device. The Alexa integration works, but the biggest issue I've found is that you can't set up a name in the Smart Life app. With my particular setup, I have an Epson projector that requires a double press of the projector's power button to turn it off and a single press to turn it on. Luckily, Epson had a remote configuration that turned off the projector with a single command. I don't think the app allows custom commands like double clicking a button at a specific interval. This forced me to set up another projector profile in the app (which the app called Projector1) to turn on the projector. The removed versions of the app didn't allow me to turn the projector on and off using the same "remote control". So now I have two "remotes" for the projector, one to turn it on and one to turn it off. I had to set up custom Alexa routines to turn it on and off. Otherwise, it drives my Yamaha receiver quite well. It looks like it has some sort of AppleTV remote control but it didn't work to wake up the AppleTV, only the controls worked fine. In general I am satisfied. I expected some level of technical customization to be required and it was, but everything works the way I need it to. Now I can say "movie time" to Alexa and the lights will turn off/dim, the projector and receiver will turn on and warm up, done! A nice discovery is that the blue light on this device only glows when it's receiving or sending commands. Otherwise it is disabled. The case is clearly an AppleTV clone, but it's a lot smaller and can be placed almost anywhere in the room due to the ring of IR LEDs inside that offers 360-degree control.
