Caution - not standard size - too snug for some flashlights

I ordered these as backups for my Fenix HM650R headlamp. I liked the idea of being able to charge the batteries in my truck without needing a separate charger. I realized they might be a bit longer than a standard 18650 due to the inclusion of the charging port, but most reviewers said their flashlights would accommodate the additional length, so I decided to give these a try.As I was test fitting one into the headlamp, I noticed the fit was extremely snug in the tube - I was still focused on evaluating the fit lengthwise, so I (brainlessly) kept pushing it all the way in. The cap fit on and the light worked, so I was encouraged. Then I took the cap off and tried to get the battery out - that's when I realized what a stupid thing I'd done stuffing that battery into such a tight fit. There was nothing to get a grip on to pull it back out. I tried cutting the visible edges of the plastic label and using them as a handle to pull on, but they just broke. I tried putting a sharp knife into the gap to pry it up little-by-little, but there just wasn't a gap to fit the blade into.So I ended up taking my brand new $100 headlamp and banging it against my workbench to get the battery to start sliding out. It eventually came out far enough to get a grip on it and, luckily, the headlamp absorbed the punishment like a champ.Since I'd already sliced the end of the plastic cover on one of them up, I figured I couldn't return them, so I experimented with just removing the entire plastic cover. That gave it just enough decrease in diameter to fit into the headlamp loosely enough to come back out with a gentle shake. So, in the end, I can still use these, but I had to peel the plastic covering/labeling off so they would fit without issues.Other than the non-standard sizing, these appear to be good quality batteries. I'll update this review if they prove to give poor performance when I really start putting them through their paces.

Pros
  • The lightweight design adds minimal weight to the flashlight for easy carrying
Cons
  • The batteries may not hold up well if dropped or exposed to impact, even if in the flashlight
