Review on LovLim Crochet Knitting Amigurumi Patterns Knitting & Crochet by Carol Miller

Nice colors, decent price but I doubt it's 100% cotton

Pros: The LovLim yarn pack is a decent yarn pack for those trying to knit amigurumi or crochet toys for the first time. They have a good range of colors, the yarn is soft and not too flimsy. The set includes a darning needle and markers. No chemical smell. Soso: A crochet hook serves a purpose, but I suggest investing in a decent crochet hook with a handle. Yarn tends to break. I've encountered skeins where the pieces of yarn were knitted together 2-3 times, which is acceptable for amigurumi, but not for grandmother's squares or small garments. Cons: It's probably not 100% cotton, but a cotton blend. I did a burn test and the yarn burns like acrylic yarn. The yarn melts and leaves no ash. I smelled burnt paper, suggesting there is cotton in it. I have also ordered milk cotton yarn from other Chinese suppliers and many of them list their yarn as a cotton blend, usually around 70-80% cotton and 20-30% milk yarn. Milk yarn from China is usually made from acrylonitrile, which explains why LovLim milk cotton yarn burns the same way as acrylic.

Pros
  • Wow
