Review on Adafruit Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 4.0) Sniffer - Bluefruit LE - nRF51822 - v2.0 [ADA2269] by Julio Solano

Works as advertised!

First, this thing does what it says on the tin, and that's the most important part. Sure, it would be great if it had better support for Linux, MacOS, or both, but unfortunately it's not really promised, and you can (much more expensively!) get UberTooth if you can't live without excellent Linux support. Follow the instructions for use carefully. from the AdaFruit website - which means you should get the same version of WireShark, especially as the 2.x version doesn't seem to work in my experience. This even worked in a virtual machine, which is not recommended. This little device has worked wonders for me by intercepting BT LE traffic between my phone and the device I was trying to write an alternative app for. I had to place the device and phone close together and place the bluefruit almost on top of the phone. Make sure many of the lights come on on Bluefruit when you sniff traffic as sometimes things will go wrong right after pairing and sniffing, avoid frustration and restart the sniffing process sooner when you see the lights go out!
