Review on 🚗 Bilstein (33-187563) 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber: Premium Performance and Superior Suspension Damping by Brandon Woods

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! Big bumps on shocks, struts and suspension

I bought these for my '92 Ford E250 van which I use for reliable business. The van was late for any perimeter strikes. One of the main reasons to buy is that they are made in the USA. But they make a great shock absorber. The transporter almost never runs empty. So I decided to install a Bilstein 33-176857 B6 HD shock absorber. According to the manufacturer, these shock absorbers are designed for mobile homes. I figured that a van would typically carry 1,000 pounds of gear on any given trip and sometimes tow a trailer as well. So it wouldn't hurt. Well, I feel like I could forgo the HD shock and stick with its stock equivalent, the Bilstein 33-176840 B6 Series C shock. It would be fine. My van also didn't have anti-roll bars front or rear. So I went to the scrap yard and just bought a used $75 OEM front. This is an easy fix if you need to buy hubs that fit the front steer axle for around $15. I installed a Hellwig 7183 rear stabilizer bar for the rear stabilizer. Highly recommended if you don't have one. Also another FYI. I have these airbags in the back of the van to handle extra weight. Firestone 2171 Sport-Rite Kit. I couldn't find the exact model number on the manufacturer's website. They didn't have an E250 on the list. But this kit is very similar to the one I installed.
