As mentioned in many reviews, no lock offers complete protection. Security and deterrence are for expected threats. I had to turn my Kar Kaddy SS Dolly into an unattractive target for bike theft when it was in a remote location. I tow my car behind my Class A van on a dolly. If I leave my car unattended while camping, someone could take the wheels off the car and walk with them before I come back. This type of theft is easy to perform and only requires a wrench and a jack, or even two men and no jack as they can each lift a wheel off the ground as the entire wagon weighs only 600 pounds. and it only takes a few minutes to make. Losing the wagon wheels in a remote place would be extremely inconvenient. These locks wouldn't be easy to pick at a campground on a Montana river. The specified torque for the trolley wheel nut is 120 ft-lbs. I'm a professional mechanic and have removed locknuts many times without a wrench, but that's in my shop. If the lug nuts are very tight, it greatly increases the difficulty of removing them by means other than a wrench. These Gorilla Acorn locks require a lot of effort and special tools and it is extremely unlikely that anyone in a remote area would have the special tools needed to pick the locks. The bogie hitch is locked, as is the ball joint tip on the receiver hitch. These security measures certainly provide more than enough security for my needs, especially considering the trolley only has two wheels and the Gorilla kit has 4 wheel nuts. GOOD LUCK GETTING YOU!
