Review on Makita B 50289 Ratchet Bit Piece by Sam Sergio

Decent set fits Screwdriver Sets

Decent Set in that you get a hand ratchet and lots of standard bits, many of which are larger than 1. So if you break some you don't have to stop and run to your local store, you can just grab another one and refill it later along the way. The ratchet itself is "good" but feels a little cheap compared to the old hand ratchet I bought from Craftsman - it has a solid shaft and is about 5-6 inches long, which in many cases really is helps. At home, the Makita feels light in comparison, almost like it's made out of aluminum instead of steel at the craftsman's, and the Makita's shaft is short, about 3-4 inches or so (I don't have either of those to measure right now). I appreciate the light weight which helps with fatigue but I also need strong tools so time will tell if this tool will hold or break (fingers crossed). The Makita grip is way better than my old Craftsman which is why I bought it. The Craftsman's all-plastic handle would often slip before I could tighten it enough. The Makita kit has a separate bit holder that can be used as an extension, but it's a bit holder like you see for drill chucks, so there's not much point in putting it on the magnetic end of the ratchet. me, and doesn't seem like a proper and safe (or even easy) extension (it's like connecting two hex shank bit holders, if you know what I mean, much hesitation). Although this extension will come in handy for my drill but again why is it here in this set? I must be missing something, but without directions I'll never know what. It's also almost impossible to take it out of the box as it's held very firmly and straight on the edge of the box, requiring you to pry it open with a screwdriver or something to get it out. These little things seem very insignificant, but anything that makes you stop working on your project to get up, grab another tool, and so on to move forward is a real pain and a waste of time. One more thing: Nothing on the surface holding the bits is marked, so you don't know which is which until you pull one out - although you can tell ahead of time what most of them are, not all are easy to tell distinguish the average DIYer - not a deal breaker, but it would be nice if the bit sizes were listed on the box. All in all though a good set and if you don't already have a hand ratchet don't worry it's a good deal at this price especially as you get a nice case to keep everything together (my old handyman didn't have a case, so I lose the bits that are on the strap holder from the ratchet almost all the time). take action.
