Ready to use

I bought this to use as a motion-activated video camera with a Raspberry Pi Zero W and MotionEyeOS. The camera worked out of the box, no complaints. I have no experience with the official Raspberry Pi camera, so I can't compare them. I chose this model because of the IR lighting as mine is in a large closet which is dark most of the time. The camera works well when the cabinet lights are off or on. It didn't take me long to find out which of our cats was defecating in this toilet. I had to change the default MotionEyeOS settings to get optimal video, but these software issues are not related to this product.

Pros
  • This is a camera module (no driver board) compatible with official Raspberry Pi camera board V2, with 8MP IMX219 sensor and 160 degree field of view. If you have a Raspberry Pi Camera Board V2 and just want to try something new, this is it.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
